Book Trailer Extravaganza!

Choices isn't ending, but the school year is! Let's celebrate by making book trailers for your favorite books you've read this year. What is a book trailer you ask? Well, it is a kind of mini-movie that publishers make to create buzz and interest in new books or to keep spreading the word about an already popular book.

You remember reading Divergent at the beginning of the year, right? Here is it's official book trailer:

And just to show you that you can make one too, here is a fan made trailer for Divergent:

We will have our expert librarians on hand to help out, but what you make is up to you!

We will meet at the computers in the Teen Room on Thursday, June 6th.

Schedule of events:
1:00pm - 5:00pm: Create your trailers.
5:00pm - 6:00pm: Pizza and drinks for all.
6:00pm - 7:00pm: Move to the Teenatorium to view all of the book trailers.

Dr. Bird's Advice for Sad Poets

James Whitman is a poetry-loving high school student with a couple of problems: an abusive father, an ineffectual mother, a crush on a popular girl, a beloved sister who has been kicked out of the house. All of this adds up to a life plagued by anxiety and depression. But he keeps his head above water with the help of Derek, a popular guy who is still a loyal friend, Walt Whitman's belief in the good of all people, and Dr. Bird, an imaginary shrink who happens to be a pigeon.

Join us to discover how James learns to love himself in spite of the shadows in his life.

2) You get to talk about what you liked about the story.

3) Or you can tell us what you didn't like about the book.

4) Haven't read the book? Come anyway and we'll try to convince you it's worth reading.

5) Snacks and drinks will be provided!

6) A fun place to hang out with your friends.

7) Or a great place to meet new friends.

8) This is a club just for teens, no parents are kids allowed.

9) The snacks are free for all!

10) You can be as loud as you want. Spirited debates are fun.

11) You will be respected by everyone, this is a no-insult zone.
